Samuel George “Sammy” Davis, Jr. was a Golden Globe award winning actor, an accomplished drummer, trumpet and vibraphone player, a terrific dancer, a singer, a talented impressionist and a comedian. Sammy got his start in show business as a child dancer in vaudeville theaters during the 1930’s. In 1956, he starred in the Broadway theater show, Mr. Wonderful, and by the 1960’s he had become an integral member of Frank Sinatra’s famous Rat Pack that included Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford. Sammy had one big hit record during the 1960’s entitled "I've Gotta Be Me" and an even bigger #1 hit record in 1972, “Candy Man.”
